HC Deb 24 March 1879 vol 244 c1506
MAJOR O'BEIRNE

asked Mr. Attorney General for Ireland, If the Chairman of the Irish Board of Works has directed his attention to the defective working of the Drainage and Improvement of Land (Ireland) Act of 1878 for the improvement of land in Ireland; and, if any steps will be taken to remedy such defects?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. GIBSON)

Sir, my attention has not been called to the working of this Act. It only obtained the Royal Assent on the 16th of August last, and there has been no opportunity of testing its working, and no scheme had been brought forward under it.
