In reply to Mr. Hopwood,

COLONEL STANLEY

said, he had no option but to proceed with the Vote which provided for the expenses of carrying out these Acts; but the attention of the Government had been directed to the subject, and, without expressing any opinion, he might announce that the Government had come to the decision to appoint a Committee to inquire into the operation of the Acts.
