NEWDEGATEasked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Ministers to inform this House, before the close of the Session, of the names of the persons whom Her Majesty will appoint as Commissioners, in accordance with the Address voted by this House on the 5th of this month, recommending that inquiry be made as to the depressed condition of the agricultural interest, and into the causes to which this depression is attributable; whether the causes are of a temporary or of a permanent character, and how far they have been created by, and can be remedied by, legislation?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERSir, the names of the Commissioners on the Depressed Condition of Agriculture have not yet been settled; but the Government will endeavour to communicate them to the House before the close of the Session.
