MR. ASSHETON CROSS

said, he had taken steps for the immediate filling up of the office of police stipendiary magistrate for South Staffordshire. The appointment had only been vacant a short time, and some delay had been caused by the requirement of an old Statute that the person appointed should be a Justice of the Peace for the county.
