§ MR. J. LOWTHERSir, I agree in thinking it may be desirable to obtain information upon this subject; but I am disposed to doubt whether the particular mode of inquiry suggested by the hon. Gentleman would be advisable, as the gentleman alluded to is known to entertain very decided views in connection with the subject; and, therefore, it would probably be more agreeable to him, as well as more likely to serve the public interests, if some fresh authority was to appear upon the scene. I will, therefore, consider how this can best be carried out.
