DODSONasked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, with reference to the Annex to the Convention of Defensive Alliance between Great Britain and Turkey, and to the Correspondence respecting the addition of an Article relating to the payment or otherwise of compensation by the Ottoman Government for money expended by Her Majesty's Treasury on public works and improvements in Cyprus on the evacuation of the island by the British (Papers, Turkey, Nos. 36 and 43, Session 1878), What agreement has been arrived at; and, whether he will lay a Copy of the Document containing such Agreement upon the Table of the House?
§ MR. BOURKE,in reply, said, that the suggestion of the Turkish Government which was referred to had not been acceded to, and therefore no agreement had been arrived at, and there was no Correspondence subsequent to what had already been published on the subject.
