§ MR. E. STANHOPESir, while they remain in India they receive free quarters and subsistence allowance; if of European, or, in some cases, of mixed descent, at eight rupees a month; if otherwise, at six and a-half rupees a month; their children, under 16, at two and a-half rupees a month. The wives and children receive, in addition, half and quarter rations, respectively, free.
