HC Deb 25 March 1878 vol 238 c1958
MR. THOMSON HANKEY

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If the time has not arrived when the Public Business may commence at a quarter-past Four o'clock, seeing the advanced state of the Private Bill Business of the House?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,

in reply, said, it was an unusually early period of the Session to make the change referred to by the hon. Member, and he did not think the Private Business of the House was so far advanced as the hon. Member seemed to believe. It would be more convenient not to make the change suggested until after Easter.
