§ SIR EARDLEY WILMOTasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether Her Majesty's Government will consider the proposal made by Mr. Bagot, in his work on Accidents in Mines, for the systematic organization of Life Brigades in the Mining districts for the purpose of rescuing Miners from the effects of after-damp and other noxious vapours; and, whether the Government will appoint a Select Committee to report on the various plans suggested for gaining safe access to a Colliery after explosion?
MR. ASSHETON CROSS,in reply, said, he had obtained a copy of the book written by the young mining engineer referred to by the hon. Gentleman, but he had not had time to consult the Inspectors of Mines about it; and, until he had done so, he could not answer the latter part of the Question.
