HC Deb 05 March 1878 vol 238 c754
EARL PERCY

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether he can state the number of deaths from small pox in England and Wales in the years 1876 and 1877 respectively?

MR. SCLATER-BOOTH,

in reply, said, the number of deaths from smallpox in 1876 was 2,413; in 1877, 4,280; the difference being entirely due to the small-pox epidemic in London.
