HC Deb 03 June 1878 vol 240 c1072
SIR EDWARD WATKIN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If his attention has been called to the alleged extensive adulteration of "Violet Powder" with arsenic, and to the consequent deaths of young persons; and what steps he has taken in the matter?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS

Sir, this subject has been brought under the consideration of my right hon. Friend the President of the Local Government Board, and in consequence of a Report which he obtained from one of the Inspectors of the Board having been forwarded to me, I have placed the matter in the hands of the Solicitor to the Treasury.
