HC Deb 22 February 1878 vol 238 c155
MR. GRAY

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, When he expects the Report of the Commission on the Board of Works in Ireland will be in the hands of Members?

COLONEL STANLEY

I am sorry to say that the Report of the Commission on the Board of Works will not be in the hands of Members before Easter, as the evidence was very voluminous. My noble Friend who was at the head of the Commission informs me that the evidence is not altogether completed. He is anxious to obtain a meeting of the Committee; but he has found some difficulty owing to the engagements of Members of the Government in arranging for it. Until the evidence is concluded, of course the Report cannot be proceeded with, and I understand the Report will take some time for consideration.
