HC Deb 07 February 1878 vol 237 c1207
MR. DODSON

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether Her Majesty's Government have considered the subject of reporting the Debates of the House; and, whether he intends to submit any proposal in reference thereto this Session?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Yes, Sir; the Government have given their attention to this matter, and they have entered into a provisional arrangement with Mr. Hansard for an improvement in the reporting of the debates. There will be a Supplementary Estimate submitted to the House in consequence in a few days; and I think it will be the most convenient course to defer any discussion on the proposals until that Estimate is on the Table.
