§ MR. J. HOLMSasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Whether the Commissioners of Customs have submitted to the Treasury a scheme for the re-organisation of their Department, in accordance with the recommendations made in 1874 by the Playfair Inquiry Commission; and, if so, whether he can promise an early settlement of the question?
§ SIR HENRY SELWIN-IBBETSON,in reply, said, that a scheme for the reorganization of the Customs Department had been submitted to the Treasury. That scheme was now under consideration; and, as far as he was informed, there would be no unnecessary delay in settling the question, but the details were numerous.
