HC Deb 12 August 1878 vol 242 c1766
MR. BARRAN

asked Mr. Attorney General, Whether, now that it is decided that a Civil Assize in addition to those already held at Leeds is to be established, pleadings are to be made deliverable during the vacation?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir JOHN HOLKER)

By the 57th Order framed under the Judicature Acts, no pleadings can be either delivered or amended in the Long Vacation, except by the order of the Court or a Judge. With respect, however, to pleadings in cases designed for trial at the Assize intended to be held in October at Leeds, it is clear, I think, that the vacation Judge will give the requisite orders.
