asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If he will be good enough to inform the House the amount and cost of the Award of the Fisheries Commissioners made against the United States Government under the Treaty of Washington; also, if any and what communications have been received relative to the decision of the Arbitrators?

Sir, the amount of the award that was made by the Halifax Commissioners in favour of Her Majesty's Government was $5,500,000. No communications have been received by Her Majesty's Government, except from our own Commissioners.
