HC Deb 17 May 1877 vol 234 c1106
MR. BRIGGS

asked the Secretary of State for War, If he will inform the House how many of the 38,000 recruits enlisted last year for the Militia were under 18 years of age, how many were between 18 and 25, and how many were over 25 years of age?

MR. GATHORNE HARDY,

in reply, said, there was no Return in the War Office on the subject. It would be necessary to communicate with every Militia Adjutant in the Kingdom to obtain such information as the hon. Member desired. He did not think it was worth while to make investigation, and therefore he was not prepared to call on the Militia regiments to make a Return.
