HC Deb 17 May 1877 vol 234 c1103
MR. ANDERSON

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether any communication has been received at the Foreign Office, or to his knowledge by any of Her Majesty's Consuls in Africa, from Mr. H. M. Stanley, in reply to Lord Derby's Despatch, informing him that he had no authority to use the British flag in his attacks on the natives at Bambireh Island, Victoria Nyanza, in July and August, 1875?

MR. BOURKE

I think the most satisfactory answer I am able to give to the Question of the hon. Member for Glasgow is, "No."

MR. ANDERSON

As none has been received, I beg to give Notice that I will repeat the Question in June.
