MR. ANDERSON (for Mr. J. HOLMS)

asked the Secretary of State for War, How many recruits were enlisted over twenty-five years of age from the 1st of June to the 31st of December, 1876, in accordance with the General Order issued on the previous date; and, how many infantry recruits under 5 feet 5 inches were enlisted from the 24th of October to the 31st of December, 1876, in accordance with the General Order of the previous date?

, in reply, said, that he had written to the hon. Member for Hackney (Mr. Holms), saying that it was impossible to have the Return ready that night, but that it would be prepared as soon as possible.
