BUTTasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, When he intends to introduce a Bill making provision for the trial of Election Petitions after the expiration of the Act now in force on the 31st of December next; and, whether such Bill will be submitted in a form that will enable the House to consider and adopt any amendments that may be deemed expedient in the provisions of that Act?

ASSHETON CROSSThe Attorney General has had charge of the Bill; and I have had an opportunity of 1205 consulting with him, and I may say that it is the intention of the Government to introduce a Bill on the subject before long, whether before Easter or not I do not like to say positively. But the Bill will be submitted in a form which will enable the House to consider and adopt any Amendments which may be deemed expedient in the provisions of the existing Act.
