§ CAPTAIN PIMasked the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whether he has any objection to place upon the Table of the House the Despatches which reached the Admiralty on Wednesday night or Thursday morning last from Rear Admiral de Horsey reporting the particulars of the encounter of Her Majesty's ships "Shah" and "Amethyst" with the Peruvian ironclad "Huascar?"
§ MR. A. F. EGERTON, in reply, said, there would be no objection to lay on Table the Paper referred to; but in the opinion of Her Majesty's Government, it would be very inconvenient to lay it 1326 on the Table until they were able to lay on the Table at the same time the judgment of the Admiralty respecting it. The Papers were now in the hands of the Law Officers of the Crown, and he trusted their opinion would not long be delayed.
