§ GENERAL SIR GEORGE BALFOURasked the Secretary of State for War, If he will lay upon the Table of the House a Memorandum explanatory in detail of the intended changes in the Militia; whether the Order in Council of 1852 fixing the quotas of Militiamen to be raised in the several counties will be revised, and the Sub-lieutenancies of counties re-arranged, to suit the altered state of the population; and, whether a revised and complete set of Militia Orders, brought down to the latest date, will be furnished in supersession of the 1875 Code?
MR. GATHORNE HARDY,in reply, said, that as the recommendations of the Committee had been finally approved, it was intended to proceed with the revision of the Rules and Regulations respecting the Militia. The revised Rules would be issued early next year.
