§ MR. A. F. EGERTON, in reply, said, regulations were laid down as to the amount of compensation that was granted to officers who had lost their effects in consequence of such disasters as the sinking of the Vanguard. Compensation had been paid in this instance under those regulations; but since then representations had been made to the Admi- 1672 ralty as to the insufficiency of that compensation, and those representations were now being considered.
