HC Deb 23 April 1877 vol 233 c1671
CAPTAIN PIM

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether it is true as reported in the "Field" newspaper of April 7th, that Negotiations have been re-opened with the British Government for the acquisition of Heligoland, which the Germans desire to possess as a fishing rendezvous and naval station; and, whether if such is the case he has any objection to lay any Correspondence upon the subject upon the Table of the House?

MR. BOURKE

Sir, there is no truth whatever in such reports, and there are no Papers to produce.
