HC Deb 13 April 1877 vol 233 c1077
SIR EARDLEY WILMOT

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If he can hold out any hope of Her Majesty's Government introducing, during the present Session, a measure for the appointment of a public prosecutor?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS

I think I stated some time ago to my hon. Friend that a measure of this kind was prepared; but, I am sorry to say, looking to the state of the Order Book and the facilities afforded to the Government for carrying on the Public Business, I do not see much probability that we shall be able to bring it forward.
