asked Mr. Attorney General, Whether the Official Referees of the High Court of Justice have been appointed upon the understanding that they are or are not to be atliberty to carry on private practice at the Bar?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,

in reply, said, that in the absence of his hon. and learned Friend, he was enabled to inform the hon. Gentleman, on the authority of the Lord Chancellor, that the Official Referees would not be allowed to carry on their private practice.
