§ CAPTAIN PIMasked the First Lord of the Admiralty, If he intends to take any steps this Session to increase the number (now only three hundred) of the Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers, who have been so favourably reported upon as thoroughly efficient, and as available, on the shortest notice, in the event of war; and, whether he will afford the members of the London Brigade greater facilities for drill and exercise, in the vicinity of Somerset House, than is offered on board Her Majesty's Gunboat "Rainbow?"
§ MR. HUNT, in reply, said, he should be very glad to see the number of Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers increased, but their increase depended upon the public spirit of those who had leisure and who were qualified to serve in that corps. With regard to facilities for drill, he had not had any application for further facilities in the neighbourhood of Somerset House, nor was he aware, if such application had been made, that a larger ship than the Rainbow could be placed there for the purpose.
