HANBURY-TRACYasked the First Lord of the Admiralty, If he will take under his consideration the propriety of restoring the benefit derived under the Order in Council of 1864, entitling Commanders to assume the rank of Retired Captain after 15 years'seniority, to those Commanders who retired under Order in Council 1873, he having granted the privilege of the step of Flag Rank to the Captains who retired at the same time?
§ MR. HUNT,in reply, said, the matter was very fully considered before the Order in Council was issued last year, and it was thought at the time that it was not expedient to make the proposed change. A memorial had just been received upon the subject, and of course it would receive consideration.
