HC Deb 04 May 1876 vol 229 c47
MR. BIRLEY

asked the Vice President of the Council, Whether it is a fact that the Cardiff School Board has presented a petition to the Education Department, praying that an order may be made authorising the School Board to take by compulsory powers two sites, one of which has been conveyed to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for the erection of a church, and the other given by the Marquess of Bute for the erection of a children's home and hospital; and whether, if the fact be so, he has any objection to state to the House the course that will be pursued by the Education Department?

VISCOUNT SANDON,

in reply, said, it was true that the Cardiff School Board had presented the Petition referred to by the hon. Gentleman. The matter was now being investigated by the Department, and as soon as he had the Report on the subject before him he would be happy to inform his hon. Friend as to the decision which had been arrived at.
