Motion made, and Question proposed, That a further sum not exceeding £436,410 be granted to Her Majesty, on account, for or towards defraying the charge for the following Civil Services, to the 31st day of March, 1877. [Then the respective Services are set forth.]

MR. BUTT

said, he would move to report Progress, as the Votes before them involved some important questions in connection with education in Ireland.

SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH

appealed to the Committee to go on with the Estimates, or else there would be considerable inconvenience entailed in the payment of school teachers' salaries.
