HC Deb 22 February 1876 vol 227 c674
MR. O'REILLY

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether the Secretary of State has received a reply from the Government of India to the Despatch of the 6th July 1872, on the subject of the Indian Ecclesiastical Establishments; and, whether he will lay the Correspondence upon the Table?

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

, in reply, said, in the Parliamentary Re-turn, No. 181, 1875, there were several letters, or extracts of letters, between the Government of India and the Secretary of State subsequent to the despatch of the 6th of July, 1872. With the exception of the telegram which he read out to the hon. Gentleman the other night there was nothing to lay upon the Table of the House. The despatch, of which the telegram was the embodiment, would shortly arrive, and there was no objection to making it public.
