asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If it-is true, as stated in the "Weekly Dispatch" of the 30th May, that the cabinet-makers sentenced by Baron Cleasby for picketing are required, in addition to cleaning their cells and working at the bench during the day, to pick oakum in their cells at night; and, if so, whether it is in accordance with the sentence passed upon them?

, in reply, said, he made some inquiries into this matter and found that in no case did any irregularity occur. The rules of these prisons were drawn up by the Inspectors, subject to the approval of the Secretary of State for the Home Department, and certainly in this case from the information he received they were not violated.
