WHALLEYasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the numerous Petitions praying for inquiry as to the administration of the law as to Contempt of Court in the proceedings of the Tichborne Trial, Whether it is his intention to institute any inquiry relating thereto, or to take any steps for the protection of the public against new and arbitrary penalties under the name of Contempt of Court?
MR. ASSHETON CROSS,in reply, said, it was not the intention of the Government to take any steps in reference to the subject referred to.
