§ In reply to Mr. NORWOOD,
MR. LOPESsaid: Sir, the Bill I introduced last Session for the amendment of the Jury Laws containing over 100 clauses was read a second time and passed through Committee, with the approval, I think I may say, of hon. Members on both sides of the House. The Bill, however, ultimately fell through, owing to causes over which I had no control. Having no reason to believe those causes might not still prevail, I feel I should not be justified in asking hon. Members again to expend much time and labour on so long a Bill. I shall not, therefore, re-introduce the Bill this Session.
