§ SIR COLMAN O'LOGHLENasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, If it is 213 the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce a Bill, this Session, to fill up the vacancies in the representation of Ireland caused by the disfranchisement of the boroughs of Cashel and Sligo?
§ SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACHWe have no present intention of introducing a Bill to fill up the vacancies in question. I do not wish to underrate the importance of filling up vacancies in the representation of Ireland; but it must be remembered that there are several vacancies in the English representation from the same causes as that to which Cashel and Sligo owe their disfranchisement; and when the necessity may arise, it would appear to be advisable to deal with the subject as a whole.
