BRUCEasked the Postmaster General, Whether there is any immediate prospect of direct telegraphic communication with the Channel Islands being restored; and, whether during the interruption of such communication arrangements might not be made whereby messages to or from the Channel Islands could be sent through France, on payment of the French rate above the usual rate charged for the transmission of such messages?
§ LORD JOHN MANNERS, in reply, said, that telegraphic communication with the Channel Islands would be open in a few days. As to the second Question of the hon. Gentleman, he did not think it would be advisable to adopt his suggestion.
