KNATCHBULL-HUGESSENasked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether, in accordance with the statement of Lord Granville upon the 15th July 1870, that Her Majesty's then Government had informed the French Government that no transfer of the British territory at the Gambia "could be completed without the sanction of Parliament," Her Majesty's present Government will undertake that the country shall be committed to no such transfer until Parliament has had an opportunity of expressing its opinion upon the subject?
