HC Deb 22 May 1874 vol 219 c699
MR. M'LAGAN

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whether the Board of Admiralty have considered favourably the suggestion made by Rear Admiral Cochrane in his letter of the 25th December 1873, viz. "to cause to be employed a party of civil engineers sent from England to survey the guano deposits of Peru?"

MR. A. F. EGERTON

, in reply, said, that the Board of Admiralty had expressed no opinion upon the suggestion made by Pear Admiral Cochrane, as the matter was one which did not come within their cognizance. The question had been referred to the Foreign Office and the Board of Trade, and the heads of those Departments would, no doubt, take the matter into consideration.
