HC Deb 15 May 1874 vol 219 cc311-2
MR. W. LOWTHER

asked if the Government has received any information on this subject?

MR. BOURKE

Sir, information has been received at the Foreign Office, from which it appears that a gross outrage has been committed on Vice Consul Magee, by a person in the employ of the Government of Guatemala. The telegram which contains this information also states that the Guatemala Government has since offered an indemnity, and every possible reparation. No further details have been received at the Foreign Office.
