HC Deb 11 May 1874 vol 219 c73
MR. HANBURY

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether it is true that the Greek Government is about to re-establish diplomatic relations with various European Courts; and, if so, whether that Government has taken any steps towards repaying the large amounts due by it to the British Government and other public creditors in this country?

MR. BOURKE

It is true, Sir, that the proposal mentioned in the Question of the hon. Gentleman is contained in the amended Budget which has been prepared for the approval of the Greek Parliament; but since that amended Budget was presented, there has been a change of Government in Greece, so it is possible that no further steps may be taken upon the subject.
