HC Deb 11 May 1874 vol 219 c67
MR. PAGET

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether Her Majesty's Government are prepared to take steps for enlarging the existing Criminal Lunatic Asylum at Broadmoor, or to build others elsewhere, and thus do away with the practice of keeping Criminal Lunatics in County Asylums?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS

in reply, said, it was not the intention of the Government to do so; but what they were at present considering was, whether arrangements could be made with regard to other Prisons in order to take away the worst class of criminal lunatics from Broadmoor altogether.
