§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER, in reply, said, that those writers had not had restored to them the rate of payment which they enjoyed previously to the passing of the Order in Council referred to. That was one of the subjects to which the attention of the Commission which was now about to sit, and over which the right hon. Gentleman the Member for the University of Edinburgh 1586 (Mr. Lyon Playfair) had kindly consented to preside, had been specially directed.
