§ MR. MONK moved for leave to bring-in a Bill to provide for the Appointment and Consecration of Archbishops and Bishops in England and Wales.
MR. ASSHETON CROSSsaid, he did not rise to object to the introduction of the Bill; but as it, touched a question of very great importance, which, if handled at all, must be handled with great delicacy, he hoped the hon. Gentleman the Member for Gloucester (Mr. Monk) would not press the second reading for a considerable time, in order that it might, be thoroughly discussed in the country before the House was asked to give an opinion on it.
