§ MR. W. H. SMITHmoved that the Order for going into Committee on the 674 Bill be discharged, in order that the Bill might be referred to a Select Committee.
§ MR. O'SHAUGHNESSYexpressed an opinion that the Bill was not quite satisfactory, and that a Select Committee was the best way of dealing with it.
MR. BECKETT-DENISONwished to remind the House that that was an important Bill, because it proposed to apply £150,000 out of the Consolidated Fund, and £200,000 had already gone in the same direction.
§ MR. GOSCHENacquiesced in the Motion; but drew attention that it was a breach of the rule to take no Opposed Business after 1 o'clock.
§ MR. SPEAKERruled that a reference to a Select Committee could not, unless Notice of opposition was given, be considered Opposed Business, within the meaning of the Resolution of the House.
