§ CAPTAIN NOLANasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, To what distance from its confluence with the Shannon will the drainage of the Suck be affected by the Government Bill for the navigation of the main stream?
§ SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACHThe regulation, Sir, of the waters of the Shannon contemplated under the Government Bill will directly affect the waters 301 of the River Suck as far up as the Pollboy Mill below Ballinasloe, a distance of about seven or eight miles from its confluence with the Shannon. The measure will have the further effect of removing any possible objection which may have hitherto existed to the formation of the lands watered by the Suck into a drainage district.
