asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If he can state whether any and what number of special licences have been granted under the Act of 1872 to Public Houses situate beyond the radius of one mile from Charing Cross?

Sir, I am not quite clear what the hon. Baronet means by the term "special licences;" but the orders of exemption amount to 81, and other occasional licences issued since the passing of the Act have been granted in 3,432 cases.
