§ Standing Order 175 read.
§ MR. RAIKESmoved several Amendments in the Standing Orders, with reference to Drainage and Enclosure Acts. He stated that at present, in any Drain-ago or Enclosure Bill, it was necessary to obtain in writing the consent of all the owners of property in the parish. This was attended with considerable inconvenience, and be proposed to amend the Standing Orders by providing that only the consent of those who had property within the area affected should be required.
§ Amendment proposed, in line 18, to leave out the words "Parish to which the Bill relates," in order to insert the words "area to be enclosed under the Bill,"—(Mr. Raikes,)—instead thereof.
§ Question proposed, "That the words 'Parish to which the Bill relates' stand part of the said Standing Order."
MR. GOLDSMIDsaid, that this was a subject of considerable importance, and he hoped it would be deferred till next Session.
§ SIR CHARLES W. DILKEsuggested that the further consideration of the matter should be postponed.
§ Debate adjourned till To-morrow, at Two of the clock.
