HC Deb 14 April 1874 vol 218 c541
MR. COWPER-TEMPLE

asked the First Commissioner of Works, When the building which is being added to the National Gallery will be completed; and whether it will suffice for the exhibition of all the pictures belonging to the National Gallery?

LORD HENRY LENNOX

said: I have every reason to hope that the new building will be completed and opened to the public in a year's time; and I am happy to say that, when completed, the buildings will be large enough to accommodate the whole of the National collection of pictures, including these that are now housed in the South Kensington Museum.
