MUNDELLAasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether it is true that sixteen women, wives of agricultural labourers, have been sentenced to imprisonment, with hard labour, by the Rev. Thomas Harris and the Rev. W. E. D. Carter, sitting as magistrates at Chipping Norton under the provisions of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, and, if so, whether there is anything in the circumstances of the case which in his opinion would justify his interference in favour of the prisoners?
