HC Deb 13 May 1873 vol 215 c1871
MR. W. O. STANLEY

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, If the permission formerly granted to the authorities at Heligoland to open gambling houses during the bathing season has been withdrawn?

MR. KNATCHBULL-HUGESSEN

in reply, said, that at the time of the issue of the Order of 1871, forbidding the further licence of gambling-houses, there were none in any of our dominions except at Hong Kong and Heligoland, and since that date permission had been withdrawn in both instances.
